Volunteer Testimonials

We receive volunteers and interns from different countries and with diverse backgrounds and skills. Our volunteers are always delighted to share their experiences about FAE, communities and the country in general. See a few reviews below.

Filmaker Volunteer Experience

“When I was searching for an overseas volunteer position, I was eager to find a way to offer my professional skills to FAE where I could really make an impact.  FAE was a great match for me because they are a small team with ambitious goals and we were able to accomplish a lot during my stay. Their four areas approach is driven by engagement which I believe creates long term development solutions. At the same time, this approach made a very exciting volunteer opportunity because I was able to go out into the field and interact with disadvantaged children and their parents in the rural schools and communities that we were serving.  It was an incredible cultural experience and one that would be very difficult to have as a tourist. I came home with new friends and the feeling that I was able to make a difference.”

Communication Specialist Volunteer Experience

Using my communication and languages skills to volunteer at the Foundation for African Empowerment, I discovered new flavors, new smells, new colors. The experience was rich. The feelings intense. The universe where I was immersed, unique, unforgettable. I learnt a lot. My experience with FAE brought me inner peace as well as energy.”

“During my four-month stay in Tanzania, I had the privilege of working with a passionate and dedicated team. The experience was enriching, filled with warm hospitality and vibrant cultural exchanges. My role as head of communication allowed me to engage in various projects aimed at supporting and uplifting local communities. I’ve had the chance to go to the field to see firsthand how our efforts make a tangible difference in people’s lives. Immersing myself in Tanzanian culture was an unforgettable experience. I learned about local traditions, customs, and languages, which deepened my connection to the country and its people. The cultural exchange was both profound and transformative.
I am truly grateful for the opportunities FAE and its team provided me. The experiences and memories I’ve gained here will always hold a special place in my heart.
Asante sana, FAE.”
